Les Miserables

Old story, new movie.  Seen the stage show, what's all the fuss about?

Good grief - bloody brilliant - that's all I can say.

Take tissues.  Several.  And, hint, don't buy the large diet coke before you go in as it's a long film.

Anne Hathaway and Eddie Redmayne had me bawling; Russell "The Gladiator" Crowe was holding his own in a songfest, and frankly, everyone was superbly cast.  It was beautifully filmed and everyone sang "live".

Comedy came from Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen and everyone else brought sweet, agonising heartache.  I was quite exhausted afterwards, and could barely keep the tears away.  But in a good, rewarding kinda way!

I cannot recommend this movie highly enough.

If you like that sort of thing.

  1. I loved the book and the stage version. I'm going to see the movie once the crowds die down a bit. Glad to hear it's so fabulous!

  2. I rarely go to the movie but my husband wants me to go see Lincoln and my son wants me to see The Hobbit. I go to the movie about once a year!

  3. I'm glad you enjoyed it as I'd read some not so great views about the singing. I have seen the trailers and I thought they all sang brilliantly. So I should enjoy the movie too!
