Another clear Alberta morn on 16th Avenue, Calgary - heading eastbound
towards the construction of the new Trades and Technology centre at
Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT).
Nature can even make the lanky, metal silhouettes of the construction site look inviting and pretty sometimes.
A seat at the top of one of those cranes must be a peaceful place to sip your coffee on some mornings, as you view the chaos of commuter-land below!
Terrific captures and what a lovely, peaceful way to start the day! I agree with you, sitting atop one of the cranes with a cup of coffee would be an fantastic way to start the day while the world below scrambled along, probably oblivious to the beauty above them! Thanks for sharing! Have a great weekend!

We lived right downtown for a year, and across from us was a new apartment building being constructed from the ground up. During rush hour in the evening, it was your garden-variety construction site eyesore, but first thing in the morning, we could look out our 32nd floor window and get a really amazing view!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the stroll down memory lane. I miss Calgary!!
I like the cranes, while nature is wonderful man's creativity is also interesting to watch.
ReplyDeleteActually, I'm fascinated by cranes and how they look in different light. I LOVE these photos. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm scared of heights, but I love seeing whatever there is to see way up there!!! Great sky
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots, but I can't even watch like Tricia does. I can't look. My fear of heights is so bad it projects itself onto other people.
ReplyDeleteBut your photos are super. The sunrise makes going across Calgary look almost bearable. LOL

Beautiful shots!! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteMy skies
Great perspective set off by a beautiful sky. I love scaffolding and all styles of cranes rising towards the heavens. They always scream at me...”Get out your camera and take my picture.” This shot is awesome.
ReplyDeleteNice captures , thanks for sharing . XXX Don
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your header photo! That is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThey look great against the sky, but sitting way up there? No-thank-you!
ReplyDeleteI'd settle for a webcam view shot?
A lovely sunrise does not stop even if it is already hectic downstairs! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI've often thought they look beautiful too... like that, silhouetted. 16th Ave looks better that way too (is it not one of the ugliest stretches of road? A real 'gasoline alley'!).
ReplyDeleteAnd thumbs-up on the drive-by shots!
Ms TB - "is it not one of the ugliest stretches of road?" I have to agree with your there - pretty awful - though they have made recent efforts with middle flowerbeds, trees, new funky lights and little colourful flags. But perhaps that only momentarily detracts your eyes from the concrete jungle of mismatching life around you!
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you everyone - I didn't realise "heights" was such an issue. I'd quite like to go to the top of that crane myself!
So true. Modern metal dinosaurs look amazingly beautiful silhouetted against the evening or day sky. Great shots.
ReplyDeleteSu-sieee! Mac
This and That. Here and There. Now, Sometimes Then.
Beautiful shots...
